Description
A moist and fluffy marble cake with a beautiful swirl of vanilla and chocolate flavors, perfect for tea time or dessert.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup vegetable oil
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour a loaf or bundt pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, cream butter, oil, and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
- Gradually add the flour mixture, alternating with milk, until smooth.
- Divide the batter into two bowls. Stir cocoa powder into one portion.
- Pour spoonfuls of vanilla and chocolate batter alternately into the prepared pan.
- Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the batters together for a marble effect.
- Bake for 40–50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For a richer flavor, replace half the milk with sour cream or yogurt. Do not over-swirl the batter to keep the marble effect visible.
