Description

A moist and fluffy marble cake with a beautiful swirl of vanilla and chocolate flavors, perfect for tea time or dessert.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease and flour a loaf or bundt pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream butter, oil, and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture, alternating with milk, until smooth.
  6. Divide the batter into two bowls. Stir cocoa powder into one portion.
  7. Pour spoonfuls of vanilla and chocolate batter alternately into the prepared pan.
  8. Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the batters together for a marble effect.
  9. Bake for 40–50 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  10. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For a richer flavor, replace half the milk with sour cream or yogurt. Do not over-swirl the batter to keep the marble effect visible.
