Description
A whimsical and colorful cotton candy cake, soft and fluffy with layers of sweet buttercream and topped with clouds of cotton candy.
Ingredients

- 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 ½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1 cup whole milk
- Pink and blue food coloring
- 4 cups buttercream frosting
- Fresh cotton candy for topping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, then mix in vanilla extract.
- Gradually add dry ingredients alternating with milk, mixing until combined.
- Divide batter evenly into two bowls and tint one pink and one blue.
- Layer the batters alternately into the pans for a swirl effect.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool completely before frosting with buttercream.
- Top generously with cotton candy just before serving.
Notes
Add cotton candy only before serving to prevent it from melting into the cake.
